HIV Innovation Challenge

Picture
The theme of World AIDS Day 2019 is ‘Communities make the difference’ and it puts emphasis on the power of the people to bring attention to neglected issues and to raise their voices with ideas for change. To honour this theme, the Office of Innovation at UNAIDS sets a challenge the all young innovators around the world to present their ideas on how innovations can help us end AIDS by 2030. The solutions can be related to any aspect of diagnostics, prevention, treatment, community engagement and financing as part of the AIDS response.

Prize
UNAIDS will select up to five winners from the submitted videos, based on their innovation value, originality, scalability, sustainability and potential for impact on the HIV epidemic. Prizes awarded to the winners include:
  • An opportunity to do an internship at one of the UNAIDS offices or a relevant partner organization
  • A $1000 cash prize
  • Mentorship by global health and innovation experts in the process of development of the proposed solutions, as well as opportunities to present their ideas to UNAIDS staff as well as investors, political leaders and innovation experts at one of the UNAIDS innovation events in 2020
